Gathering Plans

*Looks down at Josh's cracker advertisement*
Oh, this blog has evolved. Really really evolved.

Anyway... it's the end of the year. School holidays have started for most of us and as UGS tradition dictates that we have Gatherings and if possible, multiple gatherings.

Now the only problem is that, unlike 2-3 years ago, when we called for a gathering, the only problems we had were parental permission [in my case] and transportation [because we were poor underaged people].

This time, the biggest problem is that our members are NOT IN KUCHING.

Majority of them are in KL, a few in Australia and the rest sitting for examinations here. The rest of the rest still can't drive but that isn't that big a problem.

So, I've taken to the job of port mistress of the UGS dock. I've even drawn up a calender marked with all your individual arrival and departure dates. But, my credit is running lowwwww, and you guys aren't online as often as before [Or maybe that's just me]...so...

Please please please leave a comment, tell me when you're going where and when you're coming back.

Those that I dunno anything about yet are...
Cassandra
Jylene
Jeryl
Ling
Ravin [When was the last time you attended a gathering huh?]
Ben Ong
Ben Baru
Angel
Danny
Eric
Nicholas
Andrew
Dwen [Your NZ dates]
Paul [Your date of return]
Joshua Lim

Comment now. ASAP. Sms me if you don't want everybody to know of your comings and goings.

Snippets from UGS gathering 24 May 2008

Over dinner at Pizza Hut:

Ced: Hey Sean, you can come over and join us, we talk about intellectual topics *cocks eyebrow and grins*

Horng Eng, Former Head Girl of her school in Form 6: I want to be a No-One in uni

Daniel hacks vigorously into pizza with the pizza-cutter,
Wen Qi: Future dentist! *grins*

At Ced's place:

Ced: Is the photo of me as a nerd still there? *Grabs framed photo of a younger, bespectacled Ced on the piano and hides*

Playing Taboo:

Someone: Hot guys…
Daniel: Gay

Zhe Rong: This is the character of bla bla bla in Bleach….
Joshua: Gin!
Ced: And how many people actually do watch Bleach?
*Zhe Rong, Joshua, Sam raises hands*

It was a Taboo game unlike any other we had thus far. There was boy and boy, whispers, stiffies, boy and boy on honeymoon, dominatrix, boy and another boy on date, touchdown, negligee..... Oh yeaaaa

Group photo time:

Sam: Sounds like a bomb detonator (referring to her new Canon dSLR set on self-timer)
Camera proceeds to take three photos in succession, crowd stares in awe
Repeats, in faster succession on second time
Ced: Okay, let’s do crazy shots
Laughter ensues as crowd attempts to change poses in split seconds

Thus ends this post with no photos because... the photos are with Sam, bug her for photos. So, yea, use your imagination. Imagine.... ^.^

When UGS-ers get ahold of Guns

One day, after stuffing full with dim sum and everything else that can be ordered in Joyous Shanghai, the UGS'ers who attended decided to go for a jog to jog all the calories off.

But not everybody agreed. So we decided to go for a walk.

But there was nowhere to walk. So Jylene suggested we SLEEP it off.

But no bed was big enough. So she suggested we go to the beach and PLAY it off.

But the beach was too far. So we decided to just go home.

But that would mean all eat no exercise which would make us fat. So in the
blardy end, we DROVE (We meaning those UGS-ers who hold valid Drivers license and have their car under insurance) to Hock Lee Center to SHOP all the excess calories off.

After us girls (Jyl, Nic, Vivian and myself) scoured all the boutiques on the lower floor, we ended up in the arcade. It was there when the innocent members of UGS were exposed to the dangers of guns.

*From here out on, everything is FICTIONAL*

(Fictional means NOT real. Fictional does NOT mean NON-fictional)

Josh careless mentioned to Cedric who was suffering from eattoomuchiritis when they were playing some bang-bang games Time Crisis 3 that he was picking up his Macbookpro later on .

Eattoomuchiritis is a chronic disease that makes the patient extremely prone to mood swings and suicidal because they think they're fat. All of this mostly in a space of 20 minutes or less. People suffering from eattoomuchiritis should never be put in vicinity of a gun or any other weapon that can be used to harm anybody else.

Cedric holds Josh at Gunpoint. He REALLY wants that Apple product that'd go PERFECTLY with his Nano.

Josh does not relent. Why on earth would he give his precious baby to Cedric?!

Ahah! The pro's of being ambushed in an Arcade would be the abundant supply of artilleries!

Cedric suddenly realises, he cannot win. Josh has his own personal record of completing time crisis 3 within two tokens. He can play it single-handedly. How can Ced be more than 300 figures on screen?!

But...problem is, Ced has never even THOUGHT of suicide until now when Sam makes him think of it in pink fonts . Where to shoot?! How to shoot?! Pull the trigger once or twice?!

Then, suddenly a light shines down from up above. Clarity floods Cedric, he is liberated, enlightened, empowered, having a friggin REVELATION. Steve Jobs A voice whispers into Cedric's ear and tells him.

"Cedric, pull the trigger 321 times if you will, but the only way somebody will die today, is if you aim at the black screen."

Cedric gets the message, loud and clear.

Cedric has learned how to use his gun.

(This post was a joke Cedric! I swear I mean nothing by it! NOTHING!!!)

=)

Sam says, THE END.

3rd UGS Badminton Gathering

We've lost count of the gatherings that UGS members have held. Oh dear. I have to admit. We've really come a long way from the First gathering that was held. Eight people attended the first gathering. After that, the average number of members attending gatherings have risen steadily to 13.

The first gathering took so much persuasion. The latest gathering took a few msn msgs, a few smses and a few calls (Okay, so maybe ONE person in particular took more persuasion than the rest lol). UGS has really become a very tight knit community and I'm very very happy and proud of that =D Big cheers to admins Ced, Kenny and Wen Qi. And the ever supportive members! All. Of. Them. Not forgetting those who AREN'T members...but came anyway!

Okay. So on Wednesday, the third Badminton Gathering was held at Stapok again following the success of the first two. Here and here (Ced had Green/Yellow hair in this one haha!). A total of...13 people showed up. And all thirteen of them played!

It was scheduled to start at 12 until 2. I woke up at 11.30 because Nic called my house. Was in a flurry to get ready and ended up in my mums car instead of Nics as originally planned. Reached Stapok one minute before 12 and saw Vivian and Jasper whom my mum thought were together (rotfl) =D

I went down to greet them and got a chance to flip through the Lodge Magazine. The Azam winner was from LODGE! *Jaw drops* And there was a lot of posing in the magazine haha. Andrew Ho arrived soon after followed by Lai and then Nic, Lina and Zareth. After them was Josh, Ced, Tay, Benjamin and Josh Lim.

The gathering begun a little after twelve and once again we were in Court B. Contrary to Joshua's belief, I did NOT ask Jasper and Lai to play with him and Andrew to mensiasoikan him. ;)

The presence of two SBA players didn't affect anything, badminton was played, new friendships were forged, new people attended their first Gathering, Laughter was...laughed, Strings were broken. Badminton Gatherings are definitely getting livelier even without the presence of Taboo!

The gathering ended at around 2.30 which shows that 2 hours is not enough for us. Will have to extend gathering hours next time. One thing still remains the same though. No matter how many gatherings we have (And I think it's safe to say we've passed the 20 mark)....One thing STILL remains the same.

The troubles that arise when it comes to take group photos. Shout. Dash. Run.

Sigh.

Sam enjoys Badminton.

UGS Gathering August 23rd 2007

Looks like the BUGGERs are leaving the honours of blogging about the latest gathering to me. Firstly, thanks to the organiser Cedric and host Tay, without the two of them this gathering wouldn't have happened. And hey, you two do make a good team. :-P And of course, thanks to all the UGSers who helped made the gathering a success. I’m really so touched by all the effort put into this.

Since the gathering was held the evening that I just arrived from KL on a trip with my family, and Air Asia delayed the flight for almost an hour due to bad weather, needless to say, I was late. By the time I was there, it seemed that most of the eating had been done and they were just about finishing up. Daniel and Nicole were busy at the barbeque pit, even creating creations like marshmallow chicken, which really tastes better than it sounds, or looks. How dare Cedric say they looked like burnt condoms on chicken just as I was about to eat it. Haha. Roasted marshmallows taste really good by the way. Thanks to Kenny for buying the marshmallows all the way from KL, though I was just kidding when I suggested it, I didn’t think he would really do it.

Kids will be kids I guess, in this case big kids. And when kids eat, things are bound to get messy, right? We’re talking about spilled drinks, shrieks, insects falling into food, soft drink bottles shaked and conning people into opening them, spraying water at people while cleaning up. But it was sure funny to watch.

While some of the people still mucked about outside, some people suddenly caught the hardworking bug. Like this fellow BUGGER...

Attempting to do chemistry during a UGS gathering?!

Doing work on the computer during gathering?! Nah, in their case, they were just surfing the Internet.

When everything was kinda cleaned up, we proceeded to the living room to watch the video “Tai Lou” Kenny had made with his college mates.

Observe seating plan, intriguing.

After that, everything was kinda in a blur for me. Perhaps lack of sleep was getting to me. I remember Vivian and Sam scurrying into a room most suspiciously. I remember apple pie cutting, which ended up in Ced, Vivian and Nicole being locked into the kitchen area, and out of the house. I remember Kenny showing me and Angeline his before going to KL and after photos on his laptop, how different he looked back then. I remember Andrew complaining about people from school. I remember Sam serving the apple pie she made, which was really nice. I remember Kenny saying Nicole’s home-made brownies looked like earthquake, *They do not! And they taste good!* And then, there was Tay who put in the DVD for that horror movie SAW and skipping to the gory parts, thank goodness Cedric put an end to that.

Then suddenly out of nowhere, Sam pops up beside me, and an ominous feeling overcame me. Hehe. I knew something was up, rightly so. Moments later, when Sam had everybody’s attention, she popped the question. “What size bikini do you wear?”Like what?! I sure was slow that day, didn’t know how to answer such a question, quite taken aback too. Out of nowhere, a black MANGO bag appeared.

“Uhoh...”I thought. Finally, after teasing me enough, they handed me the bag, and I reached into it to reveal a....

YEP, that’s the bikini in the photo on the right. Daniel thought the same way as I did and suggested maybe it was those kinds of clothes that you soaked in water and it expanded. Haha. Okay, so it’s actually just a scented decorative item.

I also got a book from I think, the guys, Cedric, Paul, Tay. The biscuits, I’m taking a wild guess, is from Kenny? And the Micro SD card is from Andrew, Ben and Dwen. The bikini and lollipop are probably from the girls, Sam, Vivian and Nicole. Thank you all!

The note in the book, Aaawww...

Signatures of the UGSers who went for the gathering, also in the book

Signature of Ced and Tay side by side, so sweet.

Finally, the time came for the gathering to end. Just before I left, went to thank Ced and Tay for making the gathering happen. After Cedric hugged, he asked “Will we ever see you again?” To which I answered, “CHOI CHOI CHOI!” Which means touch wood. Ah, nothing can really keep me away from the Internet for long, and as long as I can get online, I will not be apart from UGS and UGSers. Thanks so much for everything. You will still be hearing from me, don’t worry, I will still blog whenever I can.

For those who are wondering, I’m leaving Kuching on 12th of September. So, don’t say goodbye too early, I’m still in Kuching la, for now.

Kenny just blogged about this gathering to at his blog.

UGS Life Cafe Lunch and Harry Potter Movie Gathering

Yesterday’s UGS gathering could use these following words to be described:

Chaotic
Fun
Loud
Claustrophobic
Quiet and distant, some were
Gay
Let down
Funny
Insightful

For me, the gathering started as I saw Sam and Nicole walking into St Thomas to find me, Kenny and Paul. The later two who had not arrived just yet. We waited under the big, green parasol on the wooden garden seating set while Sam as usual whipped out her camera and all of us were on the point of melting in the hot, noon time conditions. Before long, Kenny and Paul did arrive and we went off to visit some UGSers at L6S4. Kenny, needless to say, attracted attention from the teachers, many of whom said he had really slimmed down and they were amazed. When we did arrive at L6S4, too bad they weren’t having their free period, in fact they were having their weekly, 4-period long chemistry. Called out Jylene from the “prison” while the two other UGSers inside were probably wishing they could escape as well. Haha. Tough luck, guys.

When we did eventually go over to Life Café for lunch, Daniel gave me a bit of a shock by rushing out from behind me and tapping me on the arm after we got down from the car. When we got in, I was faced with the stark reality that no way were all of us going to fit into the space available, the turn out was far better than I expected.

There were 15 of us I think. Kenny, Cedric, Sam, Nicole, Andrew, Ben, Dwen, Jeryl, Tay, Daniel, Paul, Danny, Angel, Ravin and I turned up for the lunch itself. Though only 11 went to watch Harry Potter later on.

Lunch was for one thing, chaotic. At times, I felt like I was placed in the Kiddy Area, especially since the seating area was the “no shoes allowed”, “sit on the floor till your legs go numb” area. Forgive me, I’m not always this pessimistic. But sometimes being too observant or in the know can really be... Let’s just say, ignorance really is bliss sometimes. All in all, even within a small group, the dynamics of interpersonal relationships can be very complicated, that much can be said.

There was four distinct groups of people, one the big kids, one the incessant talkers and laughers. Two other groups had to be separated and sat at the back of the café, one of which was the serious discussioners and the other the Hokkien chatters. Mind boggling? Not really. But indeed chaotic.

Half way through lunch, it started raining. Even the weather wasn’t helping, and we ended up walking across the road to Star Cineplex in the rain. After a bit of hassle about the seating, the movie did finally begin.

At the start, for a moment, I was thinking, am I in the right movie theatre? There were showing a field.. I was expecting aliens and crop circles any moment. Then they did show Harry, though everything was muddled up, and if you didn’t read the book, or forgot about most of it like I did, you probably would be quite blur throughout the movie.

I know I’m not really concentrating on the movie at times when I think things like.. “How come a lot of the characters are wearing striped shirts?”, “Hey, I’m going to be going there next time maybe (when they were showing shots of London)” , “Harry’s good looks are marred by that hair cut” or “Who’s that famous British actress that acts as Sybil?”

And during the movie, the two people sitting next to me, Nicole and Tay were sniffling and sneezing, “Year Play” been taxing? Heh. After what seemed quite a long time at times, the movie finally ended. Yea, no spoilers here. The general consensus was that the movie wasn’t as good as previous ones. Daniel gave it a 1/10 rating. Andrew was more kind, giving it a 3/10.

After a quick photo shoot and some of them left first. And that was that. Next gathering, end of August ok? Hint hint wink wink.

I didn't manage to take any photos since my dear cam has to be admitted into hospital, again. For photos, please request from BUGGER Sam.

UGS 2nd Anniversary Gathering

So, the Undergroundsquare forum finally turned two, and to celebrate, a gathering was held. After much discussion and negotiation, finally my place was decided to be the venue for the gathering. Thus, on that fateful Sunday afternoon, 12 UGSers in total converged at my house. Yes, 12! I guess that’s a record for a gathering held at a UGSers house so far.

Anyway, as with most UGS gatherings, this one beginned rather haphazardly, without much plan or idea of what to do. And since thinking on an empty stomach was just too demanding, we ended up eating. Well, thanks so much to everybody who brought food. Firstly, thanks to Kenny for treating us to pizza. And then, thanks to Nicole for the lovely brownies, and to Tay for the nuggets, and to Daniel for the non-halal protein. And thanks to the rest who brought the crisps, I think we had 7 tubes of crisps there. Haha.

As for what happened after that, I’ll let the photos do the talking.

The people who came earlier get to pose for photos with my brother, who somehow got named as UGS mascot. Hmm.. And see how the pillows always get molested when these people come over.

The guys were ogling at Tay’s Macbook I think. At one point, Cedric was trying desperately to stop them from gathering around the Macbook and go and eat. He sat beside Tay, struggling to reach the Apple shortcut keys for shut down while Tay was restraining him. So, me being Apple illiterate just did what I could and just manually closed the laptop.

What happened here was Sam was taking a photo of a flower arrangement my mom did. And so, Ced wanted to take a photo of her taking the photo. Then, Kenny wanted to photograph Ced taking a photo of Sam taking a photo. THEN.. I decided to photograph them all, but it didn’t turn out as they didn’t manage to do what they set out to do. Instead, I got a photo like this, everyone laughing sheepishly and caught red-handed with cameras in hand.

There was conversation at the dining table. And laughter. And gossip. And what else? Daniel says he likes this photo because he looks weird in it. What say you?

Things got a bit dull and the cards were pulled out and put into use. My brother was losing badly, no thanks to people who kept peeking at his cards and my brother’s method of letting cards slip from hand being partly to blame.

Then the card players moved away from the area to play elsewhere and the “Jenga” players took over the space. Now that was quite fun. The ceiling fan was set to the maximum speed since it was pretty hot, and it added an element of fun. Not to mention, a few “Godzillas” who pounded on the floor planks to shake things up.

Paul came up with a structure, the base compromised entirely of red blocks, the middle part being blue blocks and the top being yellow blocks. And then to make it tougher, he put all the blocks out of the straight-up alignment. Now that was challenging but fun.

Things were looking perilous when the base was left to just ONE red block.

The fun ended when it all came tumbling down…

Some of the more adventurous UGSers decided to play a game of Twister. But all three of them being rather fit, the game would have gone on forever if nobody quit.

Hmm.. something about this photo reminds me of another photo taken at the gathering at Kenny’s house..

And lastly, before everyone went back, group photo!

Well, thanks so much to everybody for showing up and making the gathering so memorable. And thanks to all the Undergroundsquare members for making UGS what it is today. And last but not least, special thanks to the founders of UGS, Kenny and Cedric, if not for you two, there would be no UGS.

UGS 5th mini-gathering: Pirates of the Carribean 3, McD

As I sit here typing away, yet again trying to write in my blog posts before the deadline, which is the end of the week, I can only hope for the best for this post.

Okay okay, so on Friday, a few of us UGSers went to watch Pirates of the Carribeans: At World’s End at Star Cineplex. (Yes, try to include more specific names so that they will end up in Google searches. Haha!) So, who was there? Admin Cedric, Tay, Andrew, Andrew’s friends, me and my sister. Yes, not all of us were UGSers. Anyway, special thanks goes out to Andrew for planning and organising this time’s mini-gathering, and getting the tickets. And thanks goes to Tay for helping too, I think. So there you go Cedric, you thanked the wrong person, the person to thank this time was not me.

Well, I went into the theatre 10 minutes late (Sorry!), and not expecting much. What I got was a pleasant surprise, the movie was much funnier than the first. I wouldn’t know if the second one was funny, since I didn’t watch it. Yea, I didn’t watch Spiderman 2 before watching Spiderman 3 either!

Ok, no spoilers, since that would ruin everybody’s movie going experience. But really, there were so many funny parts in the movie, such as the time Jack Sparrow was in a dinghy, map in front of him and a special compass in hand that points the way to thing he desires the most. At first, the compass pointed towards his back, he reached to the back and pulled out a bottle of rum. Then after taking a swig, the compass pointed to where he wanted to go in the map. Hilarious.

Undoubtedly, it was a loooong movie, almost 3 hours I think. Thankfully, the E row seats weren’t too bad, I thought we would really have neck sprain after that, but nope.

So after the movie ended at 10 something, it was just a short walk through the park along the meandering river, okay, the Waterfront and we were at McD. Gosh, the place was packed and the lines were long. Even at that time. There must really be a lot of hungry people in Kuching.

And I pointed out to Cedric that there was so much green food, since they were having a Shrek 3 promotion. There was green ice-cream, green soda, green stuff on chips, and of course green Happy Meal toys. The night was going along well, what with conversation and teasing, on part of Andrew. When it was abruptly cut short when Andrew’s car arrived and Tay and Cedric also left in his car. Leaving just me and my sister behind. Why do I always seem to be the last to leave gatherings? Or close to last?

Well well, next week’s UGS 2nd anniversary on the 3rd of June. Look out for updates here.

4th UGS mini-gathering, Green Hill Corner

Just had UGS mini-gathering number 4, in case you were wondering when was the third one, which I doubt anybody would, that was only attended by Cedric, Tay and Paul and neither of them has yet to blog about it. In fact, I wasn’t aware that there was such a gathering till Cedric mentioned it just now.

Anyway, just now’s gathering was held mainly because Kenny had came back from KL for a short while, and Zhe Rong and I had to pass form 6 books to Cedric. Initial plan was to meet at Green Hill Corner at 11am. Unsurprisingly, everybody was late. The first to reach there was actually Tay. Got a call from him and he was asking where everybody was. Haha. Did I sense a slight feeling of desperation?

Then, when I got there at 11.15am, there was no one in sight, Tay had went of for a walk. But not to fear, Zhe Rong arrived moments after I reached there. The coffee shop was surprisingly quite packed, and there was only one big table free. Zhe Rong and I were quite a sight, each carrying a plastic bag of very heavy form 6 books and dumping them on the table as we took our seats.

After some time, Paul and later Cedric arrived. Tay, Paul and Cedric, the Milo Peng (Iced Milo) drinkers group for the day, all three of them ordered the same drink. Conversation ensued, ranging from talking about impending form 6 to… Pungalungas. Heh. Intelligent conversations indeed.

Then finally, Kenny the VIP arrived, was it 40 minutes after the appointed time? And the first thing he did after sitting down was….

Yes, busy busy guy. His N80 made frequent appearances throughout the gathering.

We were all at the same table, but I felt at times that there was a segregation of sorts. There was Cedric, Paul, Zhe Rong and me on one side of the table, talking away in English. Then, there was Kenny, Tay and Wong (a friend of theirs who happened to be there), talking rather animatedly in Hokkien. Then there was all the laughing from their side, sometimes for reasons unknown, my understanding of Hokkien is rather basic you see.

And all throughout, the heat was rather unbearable. Goodness, the kopitiam had fans but surrounded by food stalls which generated lots of heat and it was hot day too. Okay, my memory is apparently deteriorating, it has only been three hours since gathering and I have forgotten half of what was said, perhaps more.

Let’s rely on some photos to tell the story, shall we..

Here’s a photo of Cedric and Tay, not seeing eye to eye. Interesting photo to me in a way. And you can see that Cedric’s hair has really gone golden. Looks like ah beng or something. Oh well, looks can be deceiving.

And that’s Paul, and Zhe Rong is clutching tightly onto a green bag containing his precious three chemistry books. Must have been hard saying goodbye. Haha.

We discovered new things! Like how Cedric does not know how to use chopsticks in the proper way. How can we not know that until now?! Okay, take a look and try to see what is wrong. Apart from taking such a big serving of noodles in one go that is…

I was first to leave this time for the gathering, since parent was in town to fetch my sister after school so might as well fetch me too. So, to know what else happened during gathering, go bug one of the BUGGERs to blog about it.

2nd UGS mini-gathering, Pizza Hut/Spiderman 3/iGloo

We UGSers took advantage of the day off on 1st of May to catch Spiderman 3 on the first day it was shown in Malaysian theatres. For this 2nd mini-gathering, 5 UGSers turned up and two non-UGSers. There were Garrick, Tay, Zhe Rong, Andrew, Lau, Siaw Fern and me.

Well well, it seems like we never learn from mistakes and planning is never quite as thorough for gatherings. The plan was just to meet up at Pizza Hut for lunch at noon and then head for the 1.30pm show. I got tickets on Sunday, thinking that there it would be hard to get tickets later on, and rightly so. Once again, I’m sorry that I turned up late for lunch, but when I got there, they just started ordering. Somehow, we only ended up exiting Pizza Hut at 1.25pm. Needless to say, we were late. Sorry Andrew we made you wait. Urgh.

Anyway, during lunch our order was messed up, they added extra cheese toppings for both the pizzas, and on top of the extra two servings of garlic bread that someone ordered, we ended up paying more each than expected. RM13.60.. Hmm..

See? We had eight pieces of breadsticks, and on top of that two servings of garlic bread. Whew, this people certainly aren’t on Atkins diet.

And see the extra cheese on the pizzas? We didn’t ask for that, and didn’t realise we were charged extra for that till much later.

Thank goodness both Garrick and Lau drove, or else I don’t know how we could make it to Star as fast. Although, taking into account the time we had to spend to look for parking.. Hmm, I do wonder which way would be faster, to walk or drive.

Anyway, when we got into the theatre, Mary Jane was already belting out her song on Broadway, I’m not sure how much of the beginning we missed. The movie was unexpectedly long, two and a half hours! Some kids in the audience were getting restless and they certainly were not quiet about it. Ah, but the movie itself was quite good. Although I did get carried away sometimes, such as seeing Spiderman and Harry duel it out among the skyscrapers and knocking off bricks while doing so. Which made me wonder at the speed the bricks were falling to the ground, how many people would it injure or kill?

Then after the movie, we were just gathered around the lift area discussing where to go to next. And we really had no idea. Déjà vu again, reminded me of a previous ugs gathering. Then meanwhile, Andrew just suddenly disappeared without a word. One moment he was standing near the doors, then the next he wasn’t there. Only found out later that his car had arrived afterall.

After some time, finally settled on going to Hock Lee. Wasn’t all that much to see. And when we got thirsty and went to the food court, there wasn’t much to drink either. Then, Garrick suggested that we go to this place that serves a special kind of shaved ice at 4 and a half mile.

Here’s where Garrick’s favourite parking space in Hock Lee is, at Basement 3, the lowest floor where nobody really parks except for a few cars. The place is eerily quiet..

If you’re an Apple lover, you probably listen to music on your iPod…
Probably owned an iMac or iBook before..
Look forward to laying your hands on an iPhone..
If you’re an Apple lover, you will pronounce the name of this place we went to as “iGloo” (aih-gloo), just as Tay did. Brainwashed by Apple liao.

This place basically sells flavoured shaved ice with toppings, and they cost RM4.50 and above.

I had a Milk Ice with Chocolate toppings, RM4.80. The ice seems kind of fluffy, I’m not sure how they make it with that texture. Saw the machine used to make it though, and it looks like the same kind that I saw in a tv travel show before at Hong Kong, or was it Taiwan. Then the menu shows that this place is actually an interenational franchise. Who would have thought..

Anyway, the tables there were all glass topped and they built a shelf beneath it where magazines were put for the customers’ perusal. But they seemed to be some kind of advertisement stuck to the glass-topped tables which made it look kind of off-putting.

Everybody ended up mostly reading magazines instead of conversing. Or pointing out things in the magazines. Hmm.

The display on the glass window was interesting though it didn’t really seem to fit with the overall theme.

Candid shots never quite turn out eh.. Just like this one..

And here’s a photo of Garrick and Zhe Rong engrossed in their magazines. Sigh, leaving me looking like a madwoman snapping away photos. No camera companions this time.

Okay, so the gathering this time wasn’t too bad. But could have been better? Hope to get more people to go next time, especially the admins.

Think Again...

Quote: "If you come for badminton gatherings more often, you'll learn to love badminton."

Partly because of my aching legs, I decided to make this prequel post on todays UGS badminton gathering ( There will be a proper post on the gathering, RIGHT? ). I must say that I had lotsa fun playing with everyone including the SBA fella. But for the fella who the quote was to be for, you sure you're gonna love it?

Ey, really fun what. You run around the court hitting back the shuttle AND can do all kinds of moves:

stretching your arms

do high kicks

ah yes, the splits

God knows what this is
