Size Does Matter - A Collection of Statistics

I'm sorry for all the time i wasted not posting in BUGS, but here's a little something to make up for the non-activity. I've got quite a few things i'd like to share, not the least being lesbian koalas in Australia, but first thing first: a thought provoking video from youtube spewing out facts that make you think twice. Some excerpts:

China will soon become the number 1 English speaking country in the world

The 25% of the population in China with the highest IQs is greater than the total population of North America.

Enjoy.

Well, the people who created that vid are indeed optimistic. However, let's not forget, where there is "boom", there can be "bust". There once was a Golden Age, but also a Dark Age. Technological progress may not increase exponentially as predicted, or it may. Who knows. The future is never certain.

It's a collection of stats of the modern world. It's true, most of it.

I wonder why India has a higher birth rate than China. That kinda surprised me at first. Does the 1 child policy still reign?

dark age came from the catholic....not technology

Wow. That was some video. Currently India is the largest English-speaking country in the world, but yes, the 1 child policy still is in effect in most parts of China, I believe. They're concentrating on quality rather than quantity, and it's only a matter of time before they kick the US's arse (unless Japan gets its act together, of course).

Anonymous up there isn't entirely correct...the video DID have a point, only it's unclear (unless the point was, like they said at the end, to show that shift happens). Though I couldn't tell if it was optimistic or not.

I felt a surge of pride when they said England was the most advanced country in the world...then deflated when they said only in 1900. Bums.

Great share, Dienasty. Now we know *cheesy NBC theme music*

Thank you.

When England came out, i was completely shocked. And then 1900s made me go awwwhhh, now that makes sense.

Hehe. What a way to get you mixed up.

I don't really think the video had any one point, other than to perhaps show that change is all around us. Which can be either cool, or scary.

What times to live in, aye?
