And, taking the liberty to mash together three concepts (those apple geeks who have watched the video should know what they are: internet communicator, phone and iPod) Steve Jobs is now sitting back as everyone else sweats in their underwear. Another industry revolution? I don't know. But at $500 it's gotta come with some great things ...

[Update!] Surfing around the western blogosphere lately has caused me to stumble across this:
Inspired by the iPhone, Microsoft has created a Zune phone featuring a 3D Bill Gates assistant, detachable Zune media player, and HQ Antenna. Also sporting an easy to use UI and crash proof OS, this device is bound to take the world by storm!

For those who haven’t caught on yet, this product is just a parody from Registered Media who are the same folks behind the Microsoft iPod packaging video - so you know there is a sense of humor there. ;P

Eh? US only, and for cingular subscribers. Sure it's great (hand grenade and all, hehe) but there are kinks to work out. Poor Apple. It's got its work cut out for it. For example, would you like a phone that lasts for 5 hours?

We have to wait till next year before we can even lay our hands on this phone in Asia. No fair. Not that I would get an iPhone, but I'm curious what this hype is all about.
No Wen, ONLY in the US. Never in Asia, at least for this release. We don't have cingular. Prob because it's 5 years ahead of most wireless networks in even major cities in Europe, what to say Asia.

Wifi! OSX! Multi Touch! The capability of running mac software! Seamless integration with Google Earth! Semantic GUIs!
You can't say that its lousy. It IS ahead of its time. It IS crazy. It IS a little overambitious. But NO WAY is it outdated.

Oh yeah, another note - GPRS is outdated. The US is experimenting with WiMax. City wide internet access, at near broadband speeds. Want to watch video? No prob.
Want to listen to music? We have iPod quality sound.
And if you're bringing in Shure and Behringer, then i tell you: plug in it. And enjoy.
