Tiberium Wars

I'm proud to say that I have completed all three campaigns for Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars this holidays. I have completely wiped out the GDI, desecrated the Temples of NOD, and obliviated the alien Scrin.

In case you are wondering, C&C3 is a RTS (Real Time Strategy) game- Where the players are reffered to as Commander's in each respective campaign. Each campaign mission designates you one or two objectives, in which you complete in any way possible. Building your base and its defence systems, creating your army, destroying the opponent.

GDI base

The two main factions in this game is the Global Defence Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of NOD. I think this game portrays both factions very well in its short in-game videos.

The GDI used to be the good guys, and yes, technically they still are. However, they have lost the favour of most of the worlds population due to the 'hoarding' of Blue Zones, areas on earth that have not been infested by the health-harming Tiberium. I believe they are greedy fools. However, they have the most powerfull armies in the game, which delivers firepower like crazy.

NOD Base

The Brotherhood of Nod is a Resistance cum Religious force that defends the rights of the worlds population living in the Yellow Zones and the Red Zones, areas on earth severely infested by Tiberium. They fight for freedom, and their leader is the enigmatic religious leader Kane who hails Tiberium as the catalyst to the saving of humanity. Their armies are more of the hit-and-run type and what they lack in firepower they make up for in speed and mobility.

Kane, btw, is one of the best villains i have ever seen portrayed in any RTS game. He often-time quotes religious texts, asserting to the fact that he has lived for many millenia on this earth. Im inclined to believe him, because he was Stalin's advisor in Red Alert, in which events took place almost 100 years before Tiberium Wars. And he still LOOKS the same.

Kane with Stalin in Red Alert, 100 years before Tiberium Wars

Kane now, with style and flamboyance in Tiberium Wars

On a more mysterious note, in the Temple of NOD there is a tomb which reads "Abel" and the biblical story of Cain and Abel written in Hebrew. Go figure.

Tiberium

And thats where Tiberium comes in. Tiberium is an alien anomality, a crystal that grows at alarmingly abnormal rates. We harvest these stuffs for funds, so that we can build our base and armies. As the name of this game suggests, the main plot for all the Original C&C games revolve around this alien mineral.

War! The alien Scrin are wiping out these bastards.

Plus, the action sequence isnt so bad either. Id give a thumbs up for the game's intense graphics, if not for the lack of my computer's ability in utilizing it to maximum capacity. For a gamer, I have a lousy graphics card. Bleh.

What I like the most about this game though, are its in-game videos. They have managed to get famous actors to act such as Josh Holloway (Sawyer in Lost), Jennifer Morrison (Cameron in House), Billy Dee Williams (Star Wars) and even CNN News Reporter Shannon Cook and John Huck. The acting can be tacky at times though. What I can say though, is that this is a good sequel to a great game.

Ps- I started playing Command and Conquer when I was 7 years old, with the very first C&C game that came out. I havent missed a title ever since. Chia yu EA Games! Oh... the UGS gathering was fantastic!
