Is it truth and I have no choice but to submit?Where were all the dreams and hope that does not dissapoint? Is it truth? Or is it just Malaysian....

Ah Zhou is Me.

I have to tell you all that Ced and Me are still friends, anyway the comments for this post is interesting. And I have to tell everyone that I have decided to take science, that is unchangeable. Say something that inspire me please. If you guys want to keep on with the 'Science is Si beh hard, haiyooooooo, go Arts lah', well, I have to say please don't comment, who on earth donno that STPM Science is tough? Need people to remind me that meh, use your brain lah tolong. Find something more creative to say please. (I don't take any of the comments seriously, if I have to live my life and make decisons base on comments in a blog, I am not myself. I will be a pathetic undecisive worm that is not at all attractive to beautiful women. They say women likes decisive and stable solid man, that true or not, I don't know. I still always think that you only need to be pretty and cute to get laid.....

8:44 PM) *naf Dienasty: if you enter science
(8:44 PM) *naf Dienasty: you'll NOT get a 4.0
(8:44 PM) *naf Dienasty: guaranteed
(8:44 PM) *naf Dienasty: spoken to a few of my teachers today
(8:44 PM) *naf Dienasty: coz i was thinking about the possibility
(8:44 PM) *naf Dienasty: of cheering you on
(8:44 PM) *naf Dienasty: but they told me
(8:44 PM) *naf Dienasty: impossible
(8:44 PM) *naf Dienasty: no way
(8:45 PM) *naf Dienasty: better go to arts like that - it's a smarter decision
(8:45 PM) ah zhou: do u think i am stupid?
(8:45 PM) *naf Dienasty: no
(8:45 PM) *naf Dienasty: but if you pit my science against your science
(8:45 PM) *naf Dienasty: i win
(8:45 PM) *naf Dienasty: becoz the basics is there for me
(8:46 PM) *naf Dienasty: if you pit your arts, your moral, your linguistics against me
(8:46 PM) *naf Dienasty: i lose
(8:46 PM) ah zhou: do u think i do not know the chances of me getting a straight As if i go to science stream?

(8:46 PM) *naf Dienasty: well
(8:46 PM) *naf Dienasty: if you know the chances
(8:46 PM) *naf Dienasty: and you want to do it anyway
(8:46 PM) *naf Dienasty: then yes
(8:46 PM) *naf Dienasty: you are stupid

(9:04 PM) ah zhou: so i hav no chance at all?
(9:04 PM) ah zhou: not even a slight chance to get a good result?

I have no chance?

(9:04 PM) ah zhou:that's it??????????

(9:04 PM) *naf Dienasty: a slight

(9:04 PM) *naf Dienasty: well
(9:04 PM) *naf Dienasty: i have a slight chance to win 4d 2moro
(9:04 PM) *naf Dienasty: but frankly it is not the best use of my energy
(9:04 PM) *naf Dienasty: nor does it guarantee a future
(9:04 PM) *naf Dienasty: if you get mediocre results in science
(9:05 PM) *naf Dienasty: you have no chance in ipta
(9:05 PM) *naf Dienasty: but you have more than a chance at stellar results in arts
(9:05 PM) *naf Dienasty: and that will get you in
(9:06 PM) ah zhou: u always think u r right, and you can just put people down like that, being supportive isn't analysing the truth , being supportive is just giving a word of encouragement

hey man chill... i think what your friend means is that you can go into science, but you might not get excellent 4.0 results (hell i don't think anyone can do that).

personally i think that if you have the passion for it, why not? :) you've chosen science in secondary school because you love it, and now you're choosing it again in college because you love it too. just because your performance isn't that good doesn't mean you don't have the passion for it.

i believe that you will find one field in science that will appeal to you and you will do well there. :) science is so big, the world is so big, our eyeballs are so small.

I know 6 people personally which got straight As, one of them lives with me. So it's not impossible but it is 'almost impossible'. But then I'm not saying I will surely get a 4.0 (who the hell can be sure of that?). But I would really like to put my best effort in it. Saying that I am 'guaranteed to fail' is really hurting loh....Hey, if I'm serious about it, and I'm willing to try, put my heart and mind into it, you can't just say those words like that,we all have our sensitive side and feelings.

Just prove him wrong and let everything filter out through your right ear for now. (Or left if it enters your right).

Care comes out the wrong way sometimes.

If that is your decision, do it and do your best. Do not be discouraged, all successful people come through a lot of ups and downs, ok?

Andrew, do not be discouraged with your SPM results nor Ced's comment on your decision. All I've to say, SPM is nothing!~ Yes, I got straight A's in SPM. So wad? It doesn't mean that I'm good in all those Science subjects and I will score well in STPM. I chose to study humanities anyway.

On the other hand, you didn't get good results in SPM doesn't mean that you can't do well in STPM. SPM is nothing, I repeat... It's just a piece of useless certificate. (Ced, remember Mr Choo?) He said "Even you get Straight A's in SPM, you WILL STILL FAIL if you don't work hard". Turn around, even if you FAIL in your SPM... you will PASS with excellent result if you work hard and smart :D

Nonetheless, advising on which streams to enrol, I would strongly advise you to decide based on what you want to be in future. If you plan to take up sci fields like Med, Engineer.. strongly advise your for sci. If you want to do lawyer or other humanities, then go Arts :D You will find it easier to cope in future if you have this strong foundation.

However, if you're not sure of your ambition, then go Sci. After STPM you can choose for both Humanties and Sci as humanities can bever switch to Sci but the opposite allows.

One thing, DO NOT give a damn on the IPTA or wadeva. Even you got 4.0, it doesn't guarantee a place for you in ITPA or the courses your want. Don't place a high hope for that.

Anyway, I will just wish you all the best in whatever your decision is. Do the best and be the best. I trust that you can do it... Nothing is impossible :D I once made the impossible claimed by others to me possible. You can do it too...

Greetings.

I'm currently a STPM Physics students, Greenian and Head Prefect of the school. I've got 10As and 1B for my SPM.

I have a few points about STPM which I hope can be your reference.

Yes, it's true that SPM results don't speak everything, but if you're planning to get into Form6, SPM results speak a lot more than you think.

If you're a Science stream student back in Form 4 and 5, but you only managed to get C and below for your pure science subjects, I would still recommend you to go into Form 6 Art Stream.

Form 6 Science students need to struggle for themselves and it's a BIG BIG gap between Form 5 and 6. Back in SPM, you only read the basic principals of science, regardless whether it's Biology, Physics or Chemistry. In Form 6, those topics that you've learnt in SPM are just SMALL PORTIONS of the big topics. Form 6 teachers don't apply spoon-feeding policy, we are like 1st year university students, we need to do our own researches. Teachers are just guides.

I have classmates who scored excellent results in SPM, but only manage to get a PASS or something slightly above that. I even have classmates who only scored C and below in SPM, and sorry to tell you that, they SELDOM pass anything.

I've got A1 in my SPM Chemistry, but I never pass any of my papers for my STPM Chemistry. My results fluctuates, when I'm concentrating hard on my Physics, my MathsT results drops.

In STPM, you need to have passion towards the subjects you're taking. 24 hours a day is just not enough no matter how well your time management is. Think you can spend more time merely on studies? NO way. We need to spend time on extra activities. Even if you're not a prefect, you will still need to find other clubs, uniform bodies, sports to join just to fulfill the IPTA requirements. And mind you, form 4 and 5 certificates are NOT accepted. IPTA only look at your certificates for form 6.

However, I've seen many examples of those Science students in SPM who turned into Arts in STPM scored VERY VERY well for their STPM. Getting into Arts doesn't mean you're not good enough, moreover, if you talk to me regarding Economics or Account, I'm not ashamed to tell you that I've no idea what you're talking about. I respect Arts students, they are just as brilliant as Science students, the difference only lies in the subjects we take. My school has the most straight As students in STPM last year. Getting 4.0 is NEVER impossible. I can't guarantee I'll get one, but I'm striving hard for it.

In conclusion, I just want to tell you that a dream is still a dream, there are other factors that you need to consider, there's reality to be faced. For every decision that you've taken, you're the only one who is going to take the consequences in the end. I've made my choice, even if I don't like it, I still have to continue it. You still have yours, so choose wisely.

If you've decided take Science, don't listen to any comments anymore, just work EXTREMELY hard. If not, take the more secure path, pick Arts.

Besides, Cedric is just trying to help you, just that the language's a bit harsh. He got a point.

Horn Eng might got the point that there are many students who did extremely well in their SPM but fail to do the same for STPM. Yet, think around... ask yourself truthfully, are these people really put their 100% into achieving their dreams? I can assure you NO!

Basically they are the ones who dream of getting 4.0 without working anything, believe there is tomorrow to come but it never arrives.

Dream is a dream, but they are achieveable. Without dream, we won't be flying on air now. Everything that exist today, the technologies were all dreams by the people in previous decades or centuries. Remember...

The most important thing is whether we work for the dream or not? Taking personal example, my dad wasn't a brilliant student either. Came from poor family, having to struggle between gov work and and personal studies, he managed to be a lawyer after 8-9 years of studying law by himself. Having without proper law classes, he managed to get a certificate and is practising well now. What more, if you know me well.. you will know what's my dad's role in the potical arena.

Dream is achievable. He once dreamt of being a lawyer and politcian when any normal person would believe that won't happen...

All I can say, put your effort into achieving what you want. You many need to struggle harder than others but don't let that discourage you from achieving anything. Even you don't 4.0, believe me you will satisfy wif your results if your put your 100% heart and effort into achieving your dream.

Good luck!~

Horny Eng, U might not have an idea when people talk to u about economics and account, I have. U might not like the decision u have made, I do. Your dream might only be a dream, not mine. Your classmate who got C might not be able to pass anything, I am able, and when I do, I will sms you. The normal and ordinary people that got Cs might have thoughts Arts is a better idea, I am not normal. Read what you have just wrote, you were obviously putting yourself down so much, showing your disapointments and regrets. And you just thought I will be one of the failures classmate of yours. You judge me base on who you are, but you do not know who I am. The only part of your comment that I think you should also take and applied it to urself is your last second last paragraph.

And I think you should take a good read at what fre3ch above have to say. That is what I call wisdom.

U have got your 4.0. Let me share with you some great examples of people I know who got it.

No.1 - Lim Su Ee, my beloved friend, sciece stream, in his upper six (towards the second half of the year), his mum was diagnose with cancer, and it only gotten worst by the day, in this horrible circumstances, he managed to survive and got 4.0 in his STPM. Days after his result came out, his mum passed away. When I told him, I want go science, he says 'I can do it, so you can too!'

No.2- Joseph Ho, he is very related to me, it is believed that he came out from the same vigina as I am. Joseph ho is diagnosed with kidney failure, during his form 6 years he needed to go to the hospital twice a week for dialysis. 4 hours for once and the waiting, needling, transporting make it 6. On saturdays and sunday, he spent hours an average of 8-10 in church. His result, 4.0. When I say I want to do science, he says 'STPM is very easy one, you think hard? Try Chemical Engineering in UM. If you want to, you can one lah'

No.3 Darren Kho - Arts Stream, STPM 4.0. You might be wondering, he's in Arts, so what's it gotta do with me or us. Darren Kho scored 5Es in PMR, resulting him in the Arts, he scored a bad result either for SPM. But in STPM, he decided to make a change, it was then, a result for him that is seemingly miraculous. His words for me? 'By the natural it is impossible, but by God's grace, what can be impossible?'

No.4 Joshua Chung - science stream, STPM, straight As,a boy who has to struggle in poverty,no money tuition, no money, no money, no money.Currently doing medicine thanks to IPTA and the grace of God of course, because his year was the year where '100 over student don't get to become the doctor they want, even with their 4.0'. What he says? 'STPM is not hard, you just have to be positive, you want to become a doctor try?'

'Don't believe in teachers, they gauge you at their standard, they measure you as what they are, if they were really that amazing, they wont be a teachers all their life'- Joseph Ho.

I hope these testimonies from ordinary people in Kuching will encourage, motivate and inspire you.

And I know you will succeed in your STPM, you might not know it, but I know you will. A great result is coming your way. God bless you richly.

Horny Eng

=.="

Anyways Andrew, do whatever you want la. As long you won't regret it.

Two ways to decide you future:
1.What YOU want
2.The best way to earn money.

So, up to u. Just don look back and regret. Nothing wrong with going arts. Nothing wrong with trying the on in a million chance in scoring 4.0 science for u (meaning, possible, but slim). Nothing wrong with not studying and go working.

Just put effort into it. (Doesn't mean u get 4.0 easily or moderately hard, but Very hard) U choose lor, realist or idealist? Can u commit?

Some things are easier said than done. So don't just talk of ur 4.0. We'll see ur first test and judge from there.

Oh ya, you may be doing form six to prove that u can, believe in yourself. But be prepared that you may fail. God forbid, i'm not hoping u too fail, but be ready if u do fail. Because of that, you may have wasted your time (but not entirely la, but other options can make a better use of ur time.)
